What is the point of player-owned ports rs3? ›

Player-owned port is a management-based minigame in which the player manages a port, sending out ships to complete voyages to the Wushanko Isles, commonly known in the West as the Eastern Lands. Each voyage will have Adversity in one or more of the following stats: Morale, Combat, and Seafaring.

Since distance travelled unlocks new regions and greater resources, it's important to send as many voyages as possible, upgrading your office to allow up to four voyages at a time. Crew, captains, and ship/ports upgrades are then bought to improve the chance of success on these voyages.

Max distance you can gain in a 24 hour period is ~66,000 miles, at a rate of 11.5 miles per minute per ship sailing (if the ship is at or above max speed for that voyage and is NOT idling in your port). Trade goods (plate, lacquer, etc) and scrolls give the greatest distance, so go for those.

The number of resources currently held can be found in the "Resources" interface at the top left of the screen, this menu appears while the player is in the player-owned port. Resources have a cap of 999,999, with the exception of chimes, which are limited to 200,000.

Ports allow computers to easily differentiate between different kinds of traffic: emails go to a different port than webpages, for instance, even though both reach a computer over the same Internet connection.

Upgrading your lodgings increases the chance of attracting crew of higher quality. Certain lodging types will give an extra boost to attracting crew with a certain stat, such as Morale, Combat, or Seafaring.

When the player is in the player-owned ports area, they can activate an active enhancer (a right-click function) to get a reward from a port random event, including adventurer, captain, crew and voyage rerolls, as well as stat-boosting items. A charge is used up each time it is activated.
