While the high school football season started for some Florida Gators commits last week, the majority of UF's commits are in action for the first time this season this weekend. There are also a few commits that won't start their season for a little bit longer. Still, the high school season is ramping up around the country. Several Florida commits will be in action this weekend to open the regular season. Here is the schedule for UF's 2025 and 2026 commits.
2025 Commits:
- 4-star WR Vernell Brown III - Orlando (Fla.) Jones will open the regular season at home against Winter Park (Fla.). In his preseason fall classic this past week, Brown scored twice, including this 85 yard punt return. On offense, he ended the scrimmage with 102 yards on four catches and a receiving TD. Brown is coming off a JR season where he accounted for 1363 yards receiving and 10 touchdowns. He also scored four times on punt/kick return.
- 4-star Edge Jalen Wiggins - Tallahassee (Fla.) James Rickards will open the season at home against Tallahassee (Fla.) Godby. This past season as a JR, Wiggins accounted for 32 total tackles (2 TFL) and three sacks.
- 4-star CB Ben Hanks Jr. - Miami (Fla.) Booker T. Washington opened its season on Thursday with a 14-0 win over South Dade. As a Jr, Hanks accounted for38 tackles, 6 INT (3 pick sixes) and 3 blocked field goals. Also had a FRTD.
- 4-star RB Waltez Clark - Tampa (Fla.) Plant opens the season on the road against Carrollwood Day. In his fall classic this past week, Clark scored an 8 yard rushing touchdown, and a 74 yard kickoff return. Clark did a little bit of everything as a Jr for Plant. He accounted for 476 yards and 15 touchdowns on the ground, 358 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns through the air, and also scored one on kickoff.
- 4-star LB Myles Johnson - Brewton (AL) T.R. Miller opened the season on Thursday with a 28-7 win over Reeltown. He plays linebacker and running back for his team. He missed the bulk of his JR season with an injury. He's fully recovered as a Sr.
- 4-star S Demetres Samuel Jr. - Palm Bay (Fla.) Heritage opens the season on the road against Palm Bay. He scored on offense in the kickoff classic this past week as a receiver. He recorded five interceptions this past season as a sophom*ore. He reclassified from the 2026 class to the 2025 class during the summer, so he heads into his final year on the field at the high school level.
- 3-star WR Joshua Moore - Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward opens the season at home against South Broward on Friday night. Moore caught 50 passes for 835 yards and 9 touchdowns last season. He also recorded a rushing TD as a Jr as well.
- 3-star TE Tae'shaun Gelsey - Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside opens the season on Friday night against Oakleaf. He scored twice in the preseason kickoff classicthis past week, and made some other catches. As a JR this past season, Gelsey caught 48 passes for 859 yards and 9 touchdowns.
- 3-star TE Micah Jones - Madison (MS) Central doesn't open the season until September 6.
- 3-star RB Chad Gasper - Fulshear (TX) Katy Jordan doesn't open the season until next week.
- 3-star DL Jeramiah McCloud - Leesburg (GA) Lee County is on week two of the season and currently sit at 1-0. They host Hapeville Charter on Friday night. In the win last week, McCloud accounted for 13 tackles (4 TFL) and a QB hurry.
- 3-star DL Joseph Mbatchou - Loganville (GA) Grayson is 1-1 on the season to date. They won 15-14 in overtime on Thursday against Thompson (AL). He had 1 tackle in a week 1 loss to Collins Hill. Stats have not yet been updated from the week 2 win.
- 3-star P Hayden Craig - Bridgton (ME) Academy does not open the season until September 8.
2026 Commits:
4-star QB Will Griffin - Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit opens the season on the road with a big game against Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot. This will put Griffin against 2025 Michigan QB commit Carter Smith. In the kickoff classic this past week, Griffin scored twice on the ground. As a SO last season, Griffin threw for 3404 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. He also scored once on the ground last season.
4-star CB Jaelen Waters - Seffner (Fla.) Armwood opens the year on the road against Gaither. This game could match Waters up with 2026 FSU WR commit Darryon Williams. Waters had 20 tackles as a sophom*ore last season.
3-star S Devin Jackson - Orlando (Fla.) First Academy opened the season on Thursday with a win over Lipscomb Academy.
